SDF Corp South Africa works with employers to make Skills Development, Employment Equity, B-BBEE, Learning Systems and Training & Development practical, manageable and relevant to their business.

We understand that compliance does not happen in isolation. Decisions about people, training, workforce planning and transformation often affect more than one requirement. Our role is to help employers understand what needs to be done, why it matters and how to implement it properly.

Sometimes that means helping with one specific requirement. Sometimes it means working alongside a business throughout the year. Either way, our approach remains the same: understand the business first, then find the practical way forward.

Our Story

SDF Corp South Africa was built on years of hands-on experience working with South African employers and navigating the practical realities of workplace compliance.

Today, Sharné van der Merwe and Amanda van der Merwe work together to take SDF Corp South Africa forward, combining fresh perspective with extensive industry experience, technical knowledge and a practical understanding of the challenges employers face.

What has remained constant is our belief that compliance should never be reduced to forms, deadlines and reports.

Behind every Workplace Skills Plan, Employment Equity Plan, B-BBEE scorecard and Learning System is a business, its people and a set of decisions that need to work in practice.

Sharné van der Merwe - Director

Sharné van der Merwe leads SDF Corp South Africa with a clear focus on building a business that is practical, responsive and ready for an evolving compliance environment. Having grown alongside the industry, she brings a strong understanding of both the people and operational sides of compliance. As Director, Sharné oversees the strategic direction and day-to-day management of SDF Corp South Africa, ensuring clients receive consistent, professional and practical support. Her focus is on moving the business forward, strengthening its systems, expanding its capabilities and ensuring its services continue to evolve with the needs of its clients and the changing regulatory landscape. For Sharné, good compliance support should not make business more complicated. It should provide clarity on what needs to happen next and make sure it gets done.

Amanda van der Merwe - Industry Specialist

Amanda brings more than 25 years of industry experience across Skills Development, Employment Equity and B-BBEE, working directly with South African employers to navigate changing legislation and turn compliance requirements into practical workplace solutions. Her strength lies in understanding how the different areas of compliance connect and what those connections mean in practice. She works closely with clients to understand where they are, identify risks and opportunities, solve complex compliance challenges and determine the most practical way forward. Within SDF Corp South Africa, Amanda provides strategic client support and technical guidance, while mentoring and contributing to the continued development of the company’s methodologies, systems and services. Her approach is grounded in a principle that has shaped her work throughout her career: “Information is free; it is what you do with it that matters.”
